Wednesday Spiritual Thought

Two Sundays ago, Kayla Rasmussen gave a beautiful lesson. This is her favorite part....

"This parable—like all parables—is not really about laborers or wages any more than the others are about sheep and goats. This is a story about God’s goodness, His patience and forgiveness, and the Atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a story about generosity and compassion. It is a story about grace. It underscores the thought I heard many years ago that surely the thing God enjoys most about being God is the thrill of being merciful, especially to those who don’t expect it and often feel they don’t deserve. "

Kayla says, "I found that it was easy for me to get caught up in all the other stuff about fairness and envy that is discussed, all of which are great points, but they are not the main take home message from the parable. God finds it thrilling  to be merciful, and He wants nothing more than for his children to embrace the mercy that He offers so that we can all enjoy the final reward that can come to all who are willing to receive at the end of the day!"
